An interesting connection:

The French admiral, Brueys, died on the quarterdeck of L'Orient before it exploded. Commodore Casabianca, the captain of the Orient, died in the explosion with his 10 year old son, Giocante - which later inspired British poet Felicia Dorothea Hemans to write the famous poem"Casabianca that begins with the lines:
"The boy stood on the burning deck
Whence all but he had fled;
The flame that lit the battle's wreck
Shone round him o'er the dead. "

First published in the Monthly Magazine in August 1826

Personally, I prefer the late, great Spike Milligan's version:
"The boy stood on the burning deck
Whence all but he had fled -

Pillock!"
