Still early days yet, but here's what this site is going to be about:-

CONTENT:   Quite simply, the content is going to be all about the history of Portsmouth and its surrounding areas, showing how our city and its "satellites" have grown to be what they are today, good AND bad, warts and all!
---
WHEN WILL THE SITE LAUNCH?   Good question - the initial pages should be up and running by the middle of this month (July 2009), although how extensive they will be will depend upon how much time we can devote to writing and page construction, etcetera ...
---
WHEN WILL THE SITE BE FINISHED?   Probably never! The likelihood is that not only will we continue to add material as and when it becomes available, but that our descendants will still be expanding and improving this site long after we happy little band have become part of history ourselves!
---
WHY ANOTHER SITE FOR PORTSMOUTH?   Because there is no one definitive or extensive site for our city, nothing comprehensive and general, just a collection of specialist sites and, whilst many of these are excellent, we believe we can help bring everything together in one massive website, of which all we Portsmuthians, past, present and future can be proud.
More about our motivation and policy will appear on this site soon ...
---
IS THE IDEA TO EARN MONEY FROM THIS SITE?   Not as such, although if we could cover the costs of the technical side and the technician(s) needed to keep the site running, it would be good. Basically, although this site is being launched and hosted by InterCash Bureau de Change Ltd, and is being run by some of our old Portsmouth Post team, it stands as a separate entity and will be registered eventually as a non-profit making enterprise.
---
HOW WILL YOU RAISE THE MONEY TO COVER YOUR COSTS?   Via sponsored web links and banners, although we are determined that these will not overwhelm the site, nor detract from the final appearance. There will be NO pop-ups and no crafty hidden ways of directing spam-type e-mails to you, the reader.
We are also happy to accept private donations from anyone who would like to support our efforts and details of how you can send donations, no matter how small, will also appear here soon ...
---
CAN I HELP IN OTHER WAYS?   Indeed, particularly if you have any old photographs, or other interesting documents. We will also be introducing a section for personal reminiscences, where you can contribute memories of your own younger days and the Portsmouth you remember from back whenever ...
---
CAN I CONTACT YOU IN THE MEANTIME?   Yes, via e-mail, to bob2@intercashuk.com, simply by clicking on the text here. Eventually, we hope to have a dedicated contributors e-mail address, but in any case, please e-mail before sending any documents or pictures!
---
PLEASE NOTE: We will be taking every precaution against infringing anyone's copyright, but it is not always possible to be absolutely sure whether material is out of copyright, due to age. If you feel that we may have infringed any copyright of yours, please contact us and we will rectify the situation.

Thanks for your time and interest - Bob, Chris and Co.
