One of your editor's favourite artists/cartoonists is Thomas Rowlandson (1756-1827) and we hope to include more of his images in this site soon. Above is his caricature image of Portsmouth Point, towards the end of the 18th century, depicting fairly accurately (we think) the hustle and bustle of the town of the day.
