A SAXON FARM RECREATED

The above picture is of a modern day recreation of a typical Saxon farm - the buildings here are all timbered and don't even appear to have the wattle and daub infilled walls! Later buildings incorporated lime plaster, applied over the wattle and the thinner timbers, which afforded a degree of protection against the elements.
